Finder: A Roe-mantic Card Game
2023
Taking the adage “fishes in the sea” in a literal sense, I’ve created a satirical collectible card game based off stereotypical archetypes of men on dating apps in Singapore. These archetypes were thought of from my experience in using apps such as Bumble, OKCupid, Tinder and Hinge over the past few years and interviewing other app users. This game plays up to two players. Although the tone is largely tongue-in-cheek and lighthearted, this game also reflects the reductive quality of dating apps in generalising people into desirable and assessible traits, where users are able to filter through preferences that span hobbies, religions and even races to find their “perfect match”.

Each character card featured an xp power, followed by one primary personality traits. The four traits are namely Attractiveness, Physical Strength, Intelligence and Charisma. Players have to battle it out using the best “fish in the sea” in order to win.
There are three back designs, with power-ups being black and power cards being the same corresponding color.
